1960s

THE LEGACY BEGINS

Founded in the 1960s, Tru-Stone entered the precision granite market focusing on granite surface plates, squares, parallels and straight-edges used in general machine shop measurements.

1980s

BIGGER & BETTER

Our growth as a company necessitated more space, so Tru-Stone moved operations to the then-new Waite Park Industrial Park in the early 1980s.

1990s

AN INDUSTRY LEADER

Adopting industry best-practices, Tru-Stone implemented and achieved ISO 9001 certification and 17025 lab accreditation in the 1990s.

2000s

CONTINUAL EXPANSION

As we broadened our capabilities for more complex granite assemblies, markets and process automation, we underwent multiple expansions throughout the 1990s and mid-2000s.

2006

A NEW ERA

In 2006, Tru-Stone was acquired by the L.S. Starrett Company, a manufacturer of precision measuring tools, sawblades, and other machinist tools since 1880.

THE LEGACY LIVES ON

Now in Tru-Stone’s sixth decade of success, another expansion is planned for 2023.
